Prachatice is one of the most beautiful towns in Southern Bohemia. It is situated west of České Budějovice. The town has developed from a former settlement, which emerged at the beginning of the past millennium near the Golden Path by which salt was imported to Bohemia. With its development stagnating from the 16th century onwards, the town has preserved a practically intact Gothic/Renaissance core to this day.
In the neighbourhood of Prachatice there are many historical and natural sights. You can make many hiking and cycling trips around Prachatice.
